El G-Fe: A Flavorful Steakhouse and Seafood Escape in Chicago

Every time I have driven past this place the parking lot is full and people are waiting to get into for a meal. Well my day arrived and as usual I tried a number of dishes, 4 to be exact. My sister and I enjoyed the experience. Let me say the service is EXCELLENT. Food came fast, hot and ready. No I didn't eat everything, neither of us did. Good price points. The food was good but nothing we had IMO was like, "WOW, I can't wait to have that again!" It is good food. That was it. The experience was delightful. The people were kind, pleasant and efficient. I think I liked that more than the food. Maybe one day I might want to return but if I don't I am pretty sure I won't miss anything. They provide a nice ceviche when you sit down. We ordered their Tacos Birria with Beef Stew, 1.5 lbs of King Crab with potatoes and corn, Some type of Shrimp Cauldron Stew, and Bacon Wrapped Shrimp. If you like Crab or Shrimp then this is your place. It's BYOB, and there may be a Mariachi Band working tables.

This place have excellent Birria quesadillas! I drive an hour just for these quesadillas! Also have a big selection of delicious seafood.

This is one of the best meals out that I had in a while, if you like seafood you will like this place. Paella super flavorful, and the one person portion it’s enough to share or take some home; shrimp tacos are amazing too. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the prices are reasonable for all the delicious well cook seafood you get. We will come back for sure! I will like to try some grilled octopus sorry about the pics I got excited with the food.

Seafood lovers, great place to try, dine in or carry out. Waitstaff service was not the greatest, but just okay. Wait time was 45 minutes. This has become one of the go to spots, so keep this in mind.The piña rellena (stuffed pineapple) and the cóctel de camarón (shrimp cocktail) were not spicy at all, but the molcajete seafood is a bit too spicy. My suggestion ask about the spicing on your food. Drinks, drinks, this restaurant is BYOB, but they definitely have the michelada mix. To summarize I definitely believe El G-Fe is worth trying.

Saw a post on Facebook of this place , drove 4 hours just to try it today ! Well worth it plus got to just chill and hangout in another city . & the extra special part is the EMPANADASSSSSSS ( pineapple ) ( sweet potato )

I had a carne asada which I loved,it's very tasty and the mussels that case with it were delicious as well I also had a prepared sangria and I like it.. My wife had the langostinos Wicho she said were a little bit saltier than usual but overall all was great.. Limes that they bring to your table are freshly cut not old and brown like some other restaurants.. I highly recommend it to any one..

The food was good and waitress was great! They don't have your traditional rice and beans. They have corn and potatoes... something similar to what you get in a seafood boil. They have a white rice that's seasoned... tastes good. There are a few differences from your traditional Mexican restaurants, but overall good. I specifically went for the barria tacos. It was my 1st time and they were good.

Aw man!!! My food was delicious!!!! I smashed! That house green sauce is Spicy!! It hit the spot! I’m satisfied … literally no complaining from me. I enjoyed the patio setting . It definitely was a good day to sit out here. My food was brought out in a timely manner. My plate presentation was neat and clean. I would definitely be back.
